Part 5: Christ our Hope
Finally, we wrap up this blog series Finding Hope with an encouragement: Christ is our Hope! As Believers, we have the assurance that Christ is our hope, and we can find comfort and strength in Him.
Cast your anxieties on Christ
Peter reminds us that we don't have to carry our worries and fears alone. We can bring them to Christ, who cares for us deeply and wants to help us. When we give our anxieties to Him, we can experience a sense of peace and rest, knowing that He is in control and has our best interests at heart. He further encourages us to “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because He cares for you. Be sober- minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To Him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 5:6-11, ESV).
Find strength in Christ's power
Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13, that we “can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (ESV). He reminds us that we do not have to rely on our own strength to overcome our struggles. Christ is our source of strength, and we can draw on His power to face any challenge that comes our way. Moreover, Peter tells us that Jesus’ “divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins” (2 Peter 1:3-9, ESV). When we feel unable or powerless, we can turn to Christ and ask Him to fill us with His strength and power through His Holy Spirit. At the same time, God uses us even in the midst of our struggles. We do not have to attain perfection to be used by Him, we only need to be willing and to lean on His strength.
Remember Christ's promises
John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (ESV). Christ’s promise is that He has already overcome the world and all the troubles we may face in it. We can take comfort in His promises and trust that He is with us, no matter what. When we face difficulties, we can turn to Christ and remember that He has already won the ultimate victory.
Seek Christ's guidance
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make straight your paths.” While the verse is self-explanatory, it reminds us that we can trust Christ to guide us and lead us on the right path. When we feel lost or uncertain, we can turn to Him for guidance and wisdom. As we submit to Him and seek His will for our lives, He will make our paths straight and lead us in the life He has planned for us.
We have the assurance that Christ is our hope, and we can find comfort and strength in him. By casting our anxieties on Him, finding strength in His power, remembering His promises, and seeking His guidance, we can overcome any challenge that comes our way. Let us turn to Christ and trust in His love and grace, knowing that He is with us always.
May the “grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14, ESV).
